Zena Keita

Originally born in Paris, France, Zena immigrated to North Carolina as a young child and used sports to acclimate to her new home and find her voice. After 4 years of playing Division I basketball at Yale University, Zena knew her athlete days were over, but found a way to remain in sports by pursuing a career in sports business following the completion of her Masters at Wake Forest University School of Business. Over the next 8 years, she worked in Partnerships and Business Development for the Miami Dolphins, the Golden State Warriors, and the sports media tech start-up, The Athletic.
Her time at The Athletic provided her proximity to sports news and media, inspiring her to chase a lifelong dream of being a sports broadcaster. After two years of balancing a full-time corporate job while sideline reporting for the Santa Cruz Warriors in her free time, she decided in January 2024 to take a chance on her dream. As a full-time freelance sports commentator, podcast host and public speaker, Zena currently serves as host of The Athletic Women’s Basketball Show, a women’s basketball podcast, and as an on-air host and analyst for NBC Sports Bay Area, covering the Golden State Warriors. She also has moderated several panels, hosted live events, and led intimate fireside chats. As a lover of conversation and community, Zena’s roles all allow her to cultivate spaces in which people are able to learn from her or from one another.
Beyond work, Zena enjoys spending time with friends and family exploring the Bay Area, playing with her rescue dog Remy, traveling to new places or endlessly having a love/hate relationship with the gym
